Afework's mother died when he was 7, and his father when he was 10. Since then he has been living with his older brother, Bekele, and his cousin Addisu, who is like a brother and father to them both. Afework had a scholarship to go to school because he was an orphan. He liked school and wanted to be a doctor or a football player when he grew up. This written account tells his story at 16.
