In March, Senior Policy Advisor, Kath Ford, and Communications Manager, Julia Tilford, were invited by UNICEF to launch a new Young Lives photo exhibition, conveying our research and policy findings, at their flagship Commission on the Status of Women event, “We Deserve Better: Unlocking the power of social protection for women and girls'.
This high level event, held over two days at UNICEF House and the UN Secretariat building and jointly hosted with FCDO and the Hewlett Foundation, was attended by government Ministers, civil society, and international organizations. Collectively they demonstrated why social protection is key to addressing the challenges faced by women and girls as they grow up amid poverty, inequality and global crises and an international call to action to scale up gender-responsive social protection systems was launched.
The Young Lives' photo exhibition features 12 images carefully selected to convey the challenges girls and young women face as they grow up. Informative captions for each photograph explain how gender responsive social protection measures can support girls and young women across the life course.
