Young Lives Round 3 data now available

Young Lives, the unique 15-year longitudinal study of 12,000 children in Ethiopia, India, Peru and Vietnam, released data from Round 3 (2009) in September. The data is available through the UK Public Data Archive.

The third round of data will enable researchers to map changes in children's lives over an eight-year period, and to compare what is happening to the Younger Cohort (now age 8) with the Older Cohort who were that age in Round 1.

The household and child data from Round 3 and the community data from Round 1 (2002) and Round 2 (2006) were released on 19 September. A methods guide and data visualisation tools will be available on the Young Lives website.

Launch events planned

Alongside the data release, a series of Round 3 launch events is planned. Young Lives convened a panel on Education in Challenging Circumstances at the UKFIET conference (13-15 September in Oxford), followed immediately by another on Growing Up in an Age of Uncertainty at the EADI/DSA General Conference (19-22 September in York).

There will also be two international launch events, the first in The Hague at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DGIS) on 26 September and the second at the Department for International Development (DFID) in London on 27 September.
