Dr Renu Singh, Country Director, Young Lives India, participated in the National Consultation on Early Childhood Care and Education Policy held by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India at PHD Chambers, Delhi, on Monday 29 October 2012.
Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Ms Krishna Tirath, inaugurated the session and called for an ECCE Policy that promotes optimal development and active learning capacity of all children below 6 years of age.
Child development and education state officials, academics and representatives from UN agencies, the World Bank and NGOs attended the daylong consultation.
Dr Singh facilitated the session on ?Quality standards and Curriculum framework? along with Ms Mridula Bajaj, Executive Director, Mobile Crèches, India.
Final recommendations from all three sessions on quality, curriculum and private-sector participation will be fed into the final policy.
