Gerald McQuade
Quantitative Research Officer
Biography

Gerald is the Quantitative Research Officer for The Young Lives Research Hub on Climate Change and Environmental Shocks in Oxford. He is in the final stages of completing his PhD in economics at Lancaster University. He has previously worked for Young Lives as a Research Consultant and was a Visiting Student Researcher at the Oxford Department of International Development during Trinity Term 2023. Additionally, he was a Visiting Researcher with the Young Lives Peru team at GRADE in Lima, Peru in 2023.

His research interests are in early childhood development and skill formation; the socio-economic and health impacts of climate and environmental shocks; and in impact evaluation for social programmes and educational reforms.

He holds an MSc in Economics from The University of Edinburgh and an MA in Economics from Heriot Watt University. Prior to working with Young Lives, Gerald worked for the UK Office for National Statistics as a Statistical Officer and as a Research Intern with the Health Economics Research Unit at The University of Aberdeen.
