Richard Freund is a PhD candidate at the University of Cape Town. He also holds an MSc in Economics for Development from the University of Oxford and previously worked as a Research Analyst for Young Lives. His main research interests include health economics, labour economics, and behavioural economics. His PhD research currently focuses on the unexpected shocks on various outcomes such as mental health and cognitive skills, and the role of public policies in remediating these effects.
