The questionnaires used for the Young Lives survey are developed specifically for each survey round, to capture the changes in household circumstances and the children's lives as they grow up. In each case, a core questionnaire is produced and used across all four study countries, with specific questions and sections added by each country team to capture information of particular relevance in that country. - Household Questionnaire (both cohorts) - includes sections on Parental background; Household and child education; Livelihoods and asset framework; Household food and non-food consumption and expenditure; Social capital; Economic changes and recent life history; Socio-economic status; Child activities; Child health; Anthropometry; Caregiver perceptions and attitudes. The Peru questionnaire also includes a section on Mother's health.
- Older Cohort Child Questionnaire (age 15) - includes sections on Child time use and activities; Feelings and attitudes; School; Child health; Social networks, social skills and social support; Migration; Household issues; Children of children (girls only); Heads or Tails? (Risk aversion and time discounting questions) (Peru and Vietnam only); Peru also includes a section on Pets.
- Younger Cohort Child Questionnaire (age 8) - includes sections on School and work; Feelings, attitudes and perceptions; Social networks, social skills and social support. Peru also includes sections on Pets and on Risk behaviours.
- Community Questionnaire - includes a General module with sections on General characteristics of the locality; Social environment; Access to services; Economy; Local prices; Social protection; and a Child-specific module and conversion factors with section on Education services; Health services; Local units of conversion; Migration. The Vietnam questionnaire also includes a section on Poverty alleviation and infrastructure initiatives.
