Qualitative sub-study on school choices

The India school survey included a qualitative sub-study which aimed to investigate the processes behind the high levels of movement between schools which were evident in the Round 3 household survey. This qualitative work took place in three purposively selected Young Lives sites where school changes between the 2009 and 2010 academic years were particularly high. In each site 10 caregivers and their children were interviewed, with the broad aim of looking at the household decision-making processes shaping school choices and children's perspectives about these school choices. The sub-study outline and interview guide can be found here.
